Project Summary

This was a case of a long job I took on. Along the baseboards in the dining area, hall, washrooms – everywhere – they had been stripped like this (not sure why). I was asked to fix it all up. I first went and scraped off all the loose paint/drywall paper. I mixed up a lot of drywall compound, filled every hole and strip and gash. I sanded, did a second coat where needed, primed, and then painted with paint I had colour matched.

In the dining area, as per request, I installed new baseboards on top of the existing ones to cover the holes (it saved about $600 – once I caulked them up it looked nice. But I forgot to take a picture!).

I repaired the entrance drywall, then primed and painted.

Project Challenges

The largest problem here was getting all the lines to disappear, and make it look seamless (which is always the tricky part of drywall repair). It was about 150 feet that needed to be repaired, and some sections were worse. It was a tough job, but there wasn’t anyone else to do it, so the Kincardine Handyman takes the work!

The front entrance needed serious work – the corners had been damaged by water, which needed heavy drywall repair. After that it was just prime and paint. It all turned out well after three long days, and the customer was very happy.
